Completed the Google Tag Manager Course Through Udemy

Udemy offers people an opportunity to chase after a real-world job skill without the bother of political classroom drama and nonsensical fluff learning.

After I got out of high school, I really didn’t make an effort to go forward with any other educational responsibilities. Truthfully, I was lazy. I have always been street smart but that doesn’t count in the job market, especially today. Once the internet started taking off, I found something that might be relatively interesting. I dabbled in software like HotDog, Adobe and Microsoft FrontPage, but I still couldn’t motivate myself to master anything. Now I’m 53 and competing with kids half my age for pay that doesn’t even move me off of the poverty scale. It’s outrageous. I know I need to take all of my years of experience and propel myself where I would rather not go if I ever want to rise out of this hole. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful to have a job, but it isn’t enough to be ‘good’ at something, I need to be excellent at everything.

I think I stumbled across Udemy more than a couple of years ago and thought, “ok, this looks relatively painless”, so I signed up for a course and then found a reason to make myself “unavailable”. Isn’t that silly? The course only cost me $9.99 and I still found a way to delay my rise to being someone. Last week I had a meeting at my previous job with one of a client to train them in Google Tag Manager. I had set it up a few times but I never seemed to retain the order, and other important details. Google is constantly updating things and I have let me skills wain in the name of all of the other hats I wear. I come home and do nothing, so what is my real problem? I’m pretty sure it’s a fear of success.

I signed up for the Google Tag Manager (GTM) Training Course – From Zero to Hero course and MADE myself sit down and complete it, for once! It was awesome!! The course was really a way for me to feel accomplished. It’s only a 2 hour course, but I managed to turn it into about 8, HAH! Having my own website offers me a way to implement all of my development, photography, writing, SEO, etc., and perfect all of the things that I already use in my previous job. I have so many reasons to want to be successful and with Udemy, I have no excuses to fail. I will DEFINITELY be signing up for a LOT more courses from now on.
